Mr. Hume

The declaration in effect covered four weeks from 3 February 1986 to 2 March 1986. During that period the average weekly temperature did not fall below 0 deg C at any of the weather stations (at Aldergrove, Lisburn, Carmoney and Carrigans) now designated for exceptionally cold weather payments purposes. At two of the stations only (Lisburn and Carmoney) the average reached 0 deg C (during week commencing 24 February 1986).

Mr. Hume

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what figures are available to indicate for the weeks 5 January to 11 January and 12 January to 18 January 1987 the daily mean temperature, the minimum night temperature and the weekly mean temperature for each weather station in Northern Ireland, designated for measuring temperatures for exceptionally severe weather payments.
