HC Deb 10 February 1987 vol 110 c156W
Mr. Ground

asked the Secretary of State for Transport whether he will make a statement about the future of the Standing Advisory Committee on Trunk Roads Assessment.

Mr. Moore

The Standing Advisory Committee on Trunk Roads Assessment was set up in 1978 following the report of the Leitch committee. It produced a valuable report last year on the appraisal of urban road improvements. An independent committee, smaller in size, can continue to play an important role in the development of assessment methods. I have reconstituted the committee with Mr. Derek Wood, QC, as chairman. The other members will be Dr. P. Goodwin, Mr. A. E. Naylor, Mr. R. H. Stewart and Mr. H. J. Wootton. These appointments are for two years.
