HC Deb 09 February 1987 vol 110 cc24-5W
Mr. Stern

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science how many local education authorities are currently able to provide in full for the demands for lunchtime meals in all secondary schools.

Mr. Dunn

Most LEAs in England are now able to provide a full school meals service in secondary schools.

In a survey undertaken last autumn, some 22 authorities reported small numbers of schools with a partial, not full, service. Recruitment of school meals supervisors was the main problem and this is gradually being overcome.
