HC Deb 04 February 1987 vol 109 c677W
Mr. Holt

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland if the board for the International Fund for Ireland has been formed; who is the chairman; and what money have so far been allocated.

Mr. Scott

Members of the board of the International Fund for Ireland were formally appointed on 12 December 1986, the day the fund came into being. The chairman of the board is Mr. Charles Brett, a past chairman of the Northern Ireland Housing Executive, and there are six other members of the board from both parts of Ireland. No moneys have yet been allocated to projects by the board of the international fund. A contribution from the United States of $50 million will be available to the international fund shortly, and further contributions from the United States, Canada and New Zealand have been promised. It will be for the board to decide on the allocation of these resources when they are available.
