HC Deb 04 February 1987 vol 109 c725W
47. Mr. Dubs

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he has any proposals to help local authorities provide accommodation for homeless and badly housed single people below pensionable age.

Mr. Tracey

It is for local authorities to decide whom they are going to provide accommodation for, taking into account their statutory obligations to the homeless and people in unsatisfactory housing conditions. Recent Government measures from which single people among others stand to benefit were set out in replies to my hon. Friend the Member for South Ribble (Mr. Atkins) on 26 November and to the hon. Member for Liverpool, West Derby (Mr. Wareing) on 16 January.
