§ Mr. Redmondasked the Secretary of State for Defence if he will list the occasions during the course of the last calendar year when his Department had reason to meet or consult with the chief fire officer for South Yorkshire or the South Yorkshire fire and civil defence authority concerning incidents involving radioactive materials.
§ Mr. StanleyLiaison is conducted with those civil authorities, including fire services, which have a need to know. I am not prepared to go into further detail, as that could indicate routes and methods of transport of defence nuclear materials, which is contrary to the policy of successive Governments.
