HC Deb 02 February 1987 vol 109 c553W
Mr. Dobson

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what measures he has taken and what measures he proposes to take to reduce the geographical inequalities in the finance and provision of primary care.

Mr. Newton

The primary health care services comprise the family practitioner services and the community health services. Expenditure on the family practitioner services is not cash limited and resources are provided to meet demand. The level of resources devoted to community health services is a matter for regional health authorities and district health authorities whose overall financial allocations are determined so as to reduce, over time, geographical inequalities in health service provision relative to population need.
