To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment (1) what was the total number of dwellings let to new secure tenants(a) by metropolitan authorities outside London, (b) by English non-metropolitan authorities and (c) by all English local authorities (i) between 1 April 1981 and 31 March 1982, (ii) between 1 April 1982 and 31 March 1983, (iii) between 1 April 1983 and 31 March 1984, (iv) between 1 April 1984 and 31 March 1985, (v) between 1 April 1985 and 31 March 1986, and (vi) between 1 April 1986 and 31 March 1987;

(2) what was (a) the total number of households and (b) the total number of homeless households taking up nominations (i) by metropolitan authorities outside London, (ii) by English non-metropolitan authorities and (iii) by all English local authorities to secure housing association or new town tenancies (1) between 1 April 1981 and 31 March 1982, (2) between 1 April 1982 and 31 March 1983, (3) between 1 April 1983 and 31 March 1984, (4) between 1 April 1984 and 31 March 1985, (5) between 1 April 1985 and 31 March 1986 and (6) between 1 April 1986 and 31 March 1987;
