HC Deb 10 December 1987 vol 124 c254W
Mr. Foulkes

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what is the current state of progress of the bypasses for(a) Auckinleck and Cumnock, (b) New Cumnock, (c) Maybole and (d) Girvan; how this compares with the planned progress; and what are the reasons for any alteration in plans or speed of planning or construction.

Lord James Douglas-Hamilton

These schemes are at various stages of preparation. As with all schemes, progress depends on the satisfactory completion of statutory procedures, the availability of funds and the priority of particular schemes within the context of competing claims from the entire trunk road network in Scotland. I would not expect any of the four schemes mentioned by the hon. Member to commence construction before the early 1990s.
