§ Mrs. RumboldThe working group on physical education which my right hon. Friend will set up in due course will recommend guidelines for the content of physical education as a foundation subject within the national curriculum.
Taking account also of the recommendations of the forum on school sport set up by my right hon. Friend and my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for the Environment to consider the place of sport in schools, we hope to ensure a balanced programme of physical education, including competitive sports within all maintained schools.
