HC Deb 02 December 1987 vol 123 c630W
Mr. Allan Roberts

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will be reviewing the legal framework appropriate to the identification and recording of contaminated land; and if he will consider the introduction of statutory registers for the recording of such land.

Mr. Moynihan

The Government indicated in their response to the 11th report of the Royal Commission on Environmental Pollution ("Managing Waste: The Duty of Care") that it was considering the feasibility of identifying contaminated land by means of land registers. Consideration of this complex issue has not yet been completed; registers of such land remain a possibility.
