HC Deb 01 December 1987 vol 123 c566W
Mr. Galbraith

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence if he has made any assessment of the implications of a sea- or ground-launched cruise missile fired from United Kingdom territory failing to reach its programmed target and exploding in the United Kingdom.

Mr. Ian Stewart

[holding answer 24 November 1987]: No. There is no question of a nuclear explosion occurring as a result of a cruise missile launched in the United Kingdom failing in flight over United Kingdom territory.
