§ Mr. Simsasked the Secretary of State for Social Services what guidance his Department issues to health authorities with regard to procedures to be adopted for the disposal of clinical waste; and whether there have been any amendments to these to guard against the spread of AIDS.
§ Mr. NewtonHealth Notice HN(82)22, a copy of which is in the Library, commended to health authorities a Health and Safety Commission code of guidance "The Safe Disposal of Clinical Waste". The procedures in this code, if followed correctly, are sufficient to guard against the spread of AIDS, although the need for further guidance is kept under consideration.
