§ Mr. MellorStatistics of notifiable offences recorded by the police in which firearms of all types, including air weapons, were reported to have been used are published annually in "Criminal Statistics, England and Wales", (tables 3.1 and 3.2 of the latest edition, for 1985, Cm. 10). In 1985, 9,742 such offences were recorded, 153 per cent. more than in 1975.
