Mr. Kirkwoodasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs whether he was consulted by his United States counterparts about the implications for arms control verification and confidence-building measures of allowing storage of United States air force nuclear weapons in underground vaults in the United Kingdom.
§ Mr. RentonWeapons of the type referred to are not the subject of any current arms control negotiations. The question of verification or confidence building measures does not therefore arise. My right hon. Friend, the Secretary of State for Defence, is involved in continuing contacts with the United States Government on all aspects of possible storage facilities.
