§ Lord Kennetasked Her Majesty's Government:
Whether Defence Technology Enterprises Limited (DTE) will be able to assist with the commercial exploitation in this country of research results obtained in this country by work done under contract with the United States Department of Defense, including the Strategic Defence Initiative Office, and under joint projects with United States firms.
§ The Minister of State for Defence Procurement (Lord Trefgarne): Defence Technology Enterprises (DTE) operates in four of the Ministry of Defence research establishments with the aim of identifying technology with commercial potential and promoting its exploitation. Work carried out in these establishments under contract for the United States Government or as part of a joint project would not be excluded where appropriate conditions for commercial exploitation were met.
