HL Deb 27 October 1986 vol 481 c600WA
Baroness David

asked Her Majesty's Government:

(a) how many British Telecom car telephones there are in the country, (b) how many are defective and (c) how many have had a Racal chip substitued for the original British Telecom chip.

The Parliamentary Under-Secretary (Lord Lucas of Chilworth)

There are approximately 60,000 mobile telephones on the networks run by the British Telecoms group. Parts (b) and (c) of the question are commercial matters for the company.
