HL Deb 27 October 1986 vol 481 c600WA
Baroness Faithfull

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they will give details of the distribution of moneys received from the sale of the assets of the metropolitan counties under Section 49 of the Local Government Act 1985, with special reference to the application made by the South Yorkshire Foundations for a grant.

The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Department of the Environment (Lord Skelmersdale)

My right honourable friend the Secretary of State for the Environment is considering the representations made to him following consultations on a draft order under Section 49 of the Local Government Act 1985. This order would make £10 million available in 1986–87 to the Trust for London.

No decision has been reached on whether to make other orders under Section 49. This will depend initially on whether and when sufficient receipts from the sale of land by residuary bodies will be available.
