HC Deb 21 October 1986 vol 102 c832W
Mr. Heddle

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what steps he proposes to take to issue guidance to local planning authorities on the installation of liquified petroleum gas storage tanks on domestic premises.

Mr. Tracey

The Health and Safety Executive's guidance note CS5 "The Storage of Liquid Petroleum Gas at Fixed Installations", which is available from HMSO, is currently being revised to include more specific guidance relating to liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) on domestic premises. Local planning authorities are required to consult HSE on the safety aspects of planning applications which involve the presence of 25 tonnes or more of LPG. HSE are ready to provide advice on other applications if the planning authority considers that there are special circumstances which make advice on safety aspects necessary.
