HC Deb 21 October 1986 vol 102 c840W
Mr. Parry

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will make a statement on the future of the former Liverpool international garden festival site.

Mr. John Patten

Following the unfortunate collapse of Transworld Leisure plc the garden festival site is now back under the control of the Merseyside development corporation. Whilst the corporation considers the future of the site, it will continue to maintain the gardens to their customary high standard.

I can assure the people of Merseyside that at least the 45 acres of Riverside park will be open for them to enjoy next summer.
