Mr. Tony Banks

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what is Her Majesty's Government's policy towards the continued occupation by the Inner London Education Authority of county hall.

Mr. Chope

The Government's policy is reflected in the abolition legislation, which gives the London Residuary Body the power to dispose of property it considers surplus. It is also empowered to terminate the occupation of any successor authority. The exercise of these powers is a matter for the LRB's discretion.
