§ Mr. Tony Banksasked the Secretary of State for the Environment (1) what discussions have been held with his Department covering the distribution of balances of the former Greater London Council to all London boroughs in monthly instalments from 1 May; and if he will make a statement;
(2) what discussions with his Department concerning the timing of the release of Greater London Council's balances by the London Residuary Board to the London boroughs were held between 1 April and 19 May.
§ Mr. ChopeThe distribution of GLC balances has been discussed with the London Residuary Body on a number of occasions. Under section 77(4) of the Local Government Act 1985 the timing and method of such distribution is at the discretion of the residuary body.
