HC Deb 21 October 1986 vol 102 c820W
Mr. Maclennan

asked the Secretary of State for Defence how, and based on what operational requirements, officials of RAF Strike Command calculated, at the conclusion of the inquiry into the loss of the Bon Ami off Kinlochbervie, Sutherland, that the cost of locating a search and rescue service helicopter in north-west Scotland would amount to £20 million; how this figure compares with the most recent establishment costs incurred in the United Kingdom for such a service; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Freeman

I wrote to the hon. Member on 5 September, and a copy has been placed in the Library of the House.
