HC Deb 21 October 1986 vol 102 c786W
Q127. Mr. Shersby

asked the Prime Minister if she will make a statement summarising the benefits that have accrued to the people of Northern Ireland since she signed the Anglo-Irish Agreement.

The Prime Minister

Under the terms of the agreement, the people of Northern Ireland have received a further reassurance that Northern Ireland will remain part of the United Kingdom so long as that is the wish of a majority. Progress has been made both in laying the foundations for enhanced cross border security co-operation and in bringing forward measures to recognise and accommodate the rights and identities of both traditions in Northern Ireland.
