§ 34. Mrs. McCurleyasked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether he has had any discussions on private health care with the area health board executives.
§ Mr. John MacKayThe Scottish Home and Health Department issued to general managers of health boards a consultative paper on the management of private practice in Health Service hospitals in July 1986. The paper introduced a handbook which revised and drew together in one document all previous guidance relating to control of private practice in National Health Service hospitals in Scotland. The comments received are presently being considered. I expect the handbook to be issued early next year.
Health boards are also to be consulted very shortly about new draft regulations relating to the registration of private hospitals and nursing homes.
