§ Mr. Greenwayasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science if he will give directions under section 68 of the Education Act 1944 to Brent council to cease disciplinary proceedings against Miss McGoldrick.
§ Mrs. RumboldMy right hon. Friend could use his powers under section 68 only if he were satisfied that the authority was proposing to act unreasonably. The present position is that the ad hoc disciplinary sub-committee of the council's education committee is to meet shortly to consider whether or not to proceed with a disciplinary hearing. My right hon. Friend will consider the position in the light of the outcome.
