HC Deb 24 November 1986 vol 106 c106W
Mr. Raynsford

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many people resident in the Fulham constituency were receiving supplementary benefit at the latest count; and if he will indicate how many of these are (a) pensioners, (b) families with children and (c) others.

Mr. Lyell

Information is not available in precisely the form requested. Fulham constituency is covered by the Department's offices at Chelsea and Kensington but their boundaries are not coterminous with those of the constituency.

The table shows the number of people receiving supplementary benefit from these offices, in the three categories available, on 13 August 1986—the latest figures available.

Unemployed Over pension age Others
Chelsea 6,626 3,661 2,944
Kensington 5,197 2,415 2,194
Total 11,823 6,076 5,138

Families with children are included in each of the categories of claimant shown above.

Mr. Ernie Ross
