Mr. Strang

asked the Prime Minister (1) whether the Government's post-Chernobyl review of emergency plans and procedures for implementation in the event of nuclear fallout has taken into account the increased danger of those Magnox reactors that have exceeded the initial term for which they were licensed;

(2) whether she will state the terms of reference for the Government's post-Chernobyl review of emergency plans and procedures for implementation in the event of nuclear fallout;

(3) whether the United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority was consulted in relation to the Government's post-Chernobyl review of emergency plans and procedures for implementation in the event of nuclear fallout;

(4) if the Nuclear Installations Inspectorate was consulted or will be consulted in relation to the Government's post-Chernobyl review of emergency plans and procedures for implementation in the event of threat from nuclear fallout;

(5) if she will list the outside bodies and persons that were contacted or will be contacted in relation to the Government's post-Chernobyl review of emergency plans and procedures for implementation in the event of threat from nuclear fallout;

(6) if she will state the date on which the Government's review of emergency plans and procedures for implementation in the event of threat from nuclear fallout started; when she expects it to be completed; and whether it will be published.

I hope it will be possible to announce the interim outcome of the Government's post-Chernobyl review shortly. Appropriate consultations are being carried out.
