§ Mr. David HuntIt is estimated that energy efficiency measures undertaken by industry and commerce are currently leading to savings of over £500 million a year. A comparable figure is not available for local authorities. However, they have responded positively to the Audit Commission report of 1985, which identified savings of at least £135 million a year for local authorities in England and Wales.
