§ Mr. Douglas HoggWe receive representations from time to time on this matter but no record has been kept of the number. The day-to-day deployment of police officers is the responsibility of the chief officer of police. It is for him to decide on the priority to be given to each aspect of policing. The 330 additional police posts which have been approved for provincial forces since April 1986 have been to meet a range of specific needs, including more foot patrols, drugs work, CID officers and motorway policing.
