HC Deb 17 November 1986 vol 105 c61W
Mr. Tony Banks

asked the Secretary of State for Defence how many members of the United States National Guard have been involved in duties in the United Kingdom in each of the past six years.

Mr. Stanley

No US national guardsmen are based in the United Kingdom, although some guardsmen have undertaken routine military training in the United Kingdom in each of the last six years to practise their war role as a reserve force in support of regular US forces assigned to NATO. Precise figures for the numbers who have trained in the United Kingdom in each of these years are not held centrally and could not be obtained except at disproportionate cost.
