HC Deb 06 November 1986 vol 103 cc574-5W
Mr. Allen Adams

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what is his policy towards the role of (a) head teachers and (b) other teachers in determining the curriculum in schools in Scotland and on the extent to which staff and parents should be consulted.

Mr. John MacKay

Head teachers have a responsibility for the management of the curriculum of their school working within the overall policy of the education authority and guidance issued by the Secretary of State. Arrangements for consulting other members of staff and parents, whether in schools councils or otherwise are matters for local determination.
