§ Mr. WaldegraveAs I explained in answer to a question by my hon. Friend the Member for Lincoln (Mr. Carlisle) on 23 June, at column 3, the Government intend that there should be at least a minimum network at petrol stations offering unleaded petrol in 1987, building up to wider availability by October 1989.
511WSince then unleaded petrol has become available at over 170 petrol stations across the country. This is a good start, and the Government hope that this growth will continue by voluntary action by the industry, but we have not ruled out taking measures to require the provision of unleaded petrol in garages above a particular size if this proves necessary.
