§ Mr. Nicholas Wintertonasked the Secretary of State for Social Services what information he has concerning the average percentage of the workload of gynaecological departments which is spent in National Health Service hospitals upon non-emergency gynaecological out-patient attendances for (a) the performing of abortions and (b) the performing of sterilisations; and what percentage of such non-emergency gynaecological out-patient work is spent dealing with sequeliae of such procedures.
§ Mrs. Currie[pursuant to her reply, 3 November 1986, c. 367]: I regret that 1 cannot give my hon. Friend information in precisely the form he seeks. Information on day cases (where the patient attends for investigation, treatment or operation and occupies a bed under clinical supervision on a planned non-residential basis) is shown in the following table.
