HC Deb 04 November 1986 vol 103 c393W
Mr. Coombs

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will make a statement on the implications of the use of breath check alcohol test computers, by private individuals, for road safety.

Mr. Douglas Hogg

It is open to individuals to use such self-test equipment as they wish. The report of the Blennerhassett committee pointed out limitations of self-testing equipment, particularly that alcohol will be underestimated if a test is carried out before the alcohol consumed has been absorbed.
