HC Deb 03 November 1986 vol 103 cc299-300W
Mr. Cartwright

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science (1) if he will set out the relationship between the United Kingdom steering committee on local government superannuation and the teachers superannuation working party;

(2) how his Department is represented on the United Kingdom steering committee on local government superannuation; and how often his Department consults the steering committee on issues affecting teachers' pensions.

Mrs. Rumbold

The United Kingdom steering committee on local government superannuation is an ad hoc body established by the Association of County Councils, the Association of District Councils, the Association of Metropolitan Authorities and the Convention of Scottish Local Authorities to advise those associations on matters related to the superannuation of local authority employees. A representative of the steering committee attends meetings of the teachers superannuation working party. My Department is not represented on UKSC but consults the appropriate parent organizations—ACC and AMA—as a matter of course on proposed changes to the teachers' superannuation regulations.
