HC Deb 03 November 1986 vol 103 c304W
Mr. Oakes

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if the Overseas Development Administration will seek to obtain the vehicles and equipment from the Falkland Islands at present stored at Liverpool freeport and make them available for construction projects in the Third world.

Mr. Chris Patten

No. We, and recipient Governments, prefer to use competitively procured and fully guaranteed new equipment, because of the rist of incurring extra cost if equipment fails abroad.
