HC Deb 22 May 1986 vol 98 c258W
31. Mr. Andrew MacKay

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he is satisfied with police manning levels in the Thames Valley force.

Mr. Giles Shaw

A total of 370 additional police posts have been approved for the Thames Valley police since May 1979. There were 49 vacancies on the present police establishment of 3,367 on 30 April 1986 when the force was beginning to implement the latest increase of 50 posts, which was approved on 15 April. My right hon. Friend will consider in the autumn the possibility of a further increase for Thames Valley.
