(2) what is the estimated cost of transferring soil analysis, the facility advisory work, and the spectrochemical analysis from the Macaulay to the Scottish colleges of agriculture; and what is the cost of transporting samples to Edinburgh from all areas of Scotland north of Montrose.

A steering group is currently considering a number of practical questions arising from the strategy document on agricultural R and D which was published by the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries for Scotland last December. The steering group will report to my right hon. and learned Friend as soon as possible.
