HC Deb 22 May 1986 vol 98 c247W
Mr. Stott

asked the Secretary of State for Transport what measures he has taken to ensure his Department's compliance with International Labour Organisation Convention 134, 1970, Prevention of Accidents, Seafarers, with particular reference to articles 2.1, 2.2, 2.3, 2.4, 4.1, 4.2, 4.3, 6.1, 6.2, 6.3, 6.4, 8.1, 8.2, 8.3, 9.1 and 9.2, respectively, of the convention.

Mr. Peter Bottomley

The United Kingdom has not ratified this convention but measures promoted by my Department, which include regulations and codes of practice, have ensured that the majority of its requirements have been met in respect of merchant seamen.
