HC Deb 22 May 1986 vol 98 cc262-3W
Mr. Hoyle

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what is the value of the 49 prison officers' houses at Culcheth; what reserve price has been placed on them; when he put out to tender for the sale of these houses; and when the contract will be awarded.

Mr. Mellor

The prison officers houses at Culcheth have not been valued. No reserve price has been placed on the 39 now for sale, since reserve prices are normally applicable only when properties are auctioned. Formal tenders were not invited. The estate agents were instructed on 11 November to market the 26 houses then available. Negotiations for the sale of the 39 houses are proceeding on a private treaty basis. The contract will be awarded as soon as possible.
