asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he has any proposals to introduce legislation to seek to amend the Fugitive Offenders Act 1967; and if he will make a statement.

In the light of the decision of Commonwealth Law Ministers in 1983 to revise the Commonwealth scheme for the rendition of fugitive offenders, we are considering whether to amend the Fugitive Offenders Act. The scheme is to be considered further by Law Ministers in Harare in July, and my right hon. Friend shall reach a decision in the light of that meeting.
