HC Deb 22 May 1986 vol 98 c285W
Mr. Terlezki

asked the Secretary of State for Wales if he will make it his policy not to approve the closure of any hospitals in Cardiff, West; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Mark Robinson

The planning and management of Health Service facilities in Cardiff is the responsibility of the South Glamorgan health authority. If it decides to implement proposals for the closure or change of use of a hospital, it must first embark on public consultation. If, as a result of that, there is unresolved local opposition to a proposal to close or change the use of a hospital the authority must submit its proposals to the Secretary of State for his consideration.
