HC Deb 12 May 1986 vol 97 c381W
Mr. Dobson

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services, pursuant to his answer of Monday 14 April, Official Report, columns 287–90, why it is not his Department's policy to collect details of allocations made by regional to district health authorities.

Mr. Hayhoe

The detail of cash allocations to district health authorities is a matter for regional health authorities. The Department monitors the effect of cash allocations on districts' distance from their resource allocation targets, through regions' annual short term programmes, and receives information on expenditure through districts' annual accounts. Monitoring of cash allocations by the Department in addition would be unnecessary and wasteful.
