HC Deb 27 March 1986 vol 94 cc544-5W
Sir Eldon Griffiths

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department (1) what recommendations he has received from the Association of Chief Police Officers about the role, location and title of the national reporting centre;

(2) if, in the light of the Police Advisory Board's consideration of the Association of Police Officers' paper on "Policing the Miners' Dispute", he will take steps to encourage police authorities to provide their forces with standard personnel carriers in sufficient numbers to meet the whole of their mutual aid commitment, compatible telecommunications equipment capable of linking into a national emergency channel, common training standards, including regular inter-force exercises and consistent standards of charging for the provision of police support units to forces that need mutual support.

Mr. Giles Shaw

Our officials will discuss with the Association of Chief Police Officers the matters raised in its paper, including those relating to the national reporting centre.
