§ Mr. Barry Jonesasked the Secretary of State for Wales, taking 1979 as a base year, what has been the yearly index of industrial production in (a) the manufacturing sector, (b) the construction industry and (c) both sectors together for each year in (i) Wales, (ii) Scotland and (iii) the United Kingdom.
§ Mr. Nicholas EdwardsThe index of production for Wales is, at present, based on the year 1980. To rebase this index accurately to 1979 would incur disproportionate cost. Press notices are produced quarterly on the index and an historical series is contained inWelsh Economic Trends, and they are both available in the House of Commons Library.
Indices of production for Scotland and the United Kingdom are also published in press notices which are available in the House of Commons Library.
