HC Deb 26 March 1986 vol 94 c506W
35. Mr. Willie W. Hamilton

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what recent reassessment has been made of regional aids to industry in Scotland; what representations he has received from Fife regional council on these matters; and what reply has been made.

Mr. Allan Stewart

Basic changes in regional policy were introduced only some 16 months ago and the Government have no plans for a further review of policy at present. The operation of the current schemes of assistance is being closely monitored and the results will be taken into account in deciding what changes are desirable in the administration of the schemes.

I have agreed to meet a deputation from Fife to discuss the effects of the regional policy changes on the region.
