HC Deb 26 March 1986 vol 94 c505W
28. Dr. Godman

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will make a statement on the progress of the Inverclyde initiative.

Mr. Allan Stewart

A priority programme of measures at a cost of up to £6 million is well under way and the Scottish Development Agency will have spent some £3.5 million by the end of this financial year. Considerable efforts are being made to identify projects which will generate investment and attract business to the area, and the initiative has recently submitted proposals for the redevelopment of the Customs house quay site in Greenock which could create 700 jobs.
