HC Deb 25 March 1986 vol 94 cc444-5W
19. Mr. Kirkwood

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services whether he will consider compensating nurses who have been required to leave their nurses' homes as a result of Her Majesty's Government's policy of disposing of National Health Service property.

Mr. Hayhoe

Nurses who live in NHS accommodation do so at the discretion of the health authority concerned. There can be no question of compensating any staff who are no longer to be offered accommodation, though some will have the opportunity to buy their home at discounts of between 32 and 60 per cent. off the current value, assuming vacant possession.
