55. Mr. Meadowdcroftasked the Secretary of State for Social Services what representations he has received on the operation of joint health and social services finance schemes for the case of the mentally handicapped and mentally ill in the community.
§ Mr. WhitneySince the publication in November 1985 of the Government response to the report of the Social Services Committee on community care, representations from some 25 bodies, for the most part local branches of MENCAP, have been received about the funding of community care. Representations have also been made by the local authority associations and the National Association of Health Authorities. In addition the North-West Association of Social Services Authorities has written to my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State seeking a meeting about funding of community care.
